The Hazy Mind Poetry Series: The Juice In The Dark

We all yearn for the light

We all long for the flashes

Even if they come from the tiniest cracks

We live for the shine

Success is the sweetest high

Everyone longs for hits

Some drown after a shot

Others never stop till their heads are lost in the clouds

But life starts when the lights goes off

When the flashes don’t flash

And when the cracks can’t produce consolations

Only then life starts

But the dark begets the light

What’s light without the dark?

When the dark nurtures light

What then has light got on the dark?

It’s never cute to the attracted to the dark

Only the lost long for the unending shadows

But like a mother hell-bent on nurturing her baby

The dark pulls us close and wipes us clean

Wipes us clean of all foolishness

Cures our myopia and heals our silly fantasies

The dark could be the real hero

Hate it all we can

But there would never be flashing lights

Without cloudy skies…
