Poetry: I Just Met Me

I’m that fool with people
That fool with words that elevates
I’m that drab with a few truths
That monster that kidnaps his real words

Time is a teacher
But God’s wisdom is ever unmatched
I respect time
I fear the One who made me

It’s almost like I just met me
My knowledge of this human just increased
My interest in him just spiked
It’s fascinating how unwrapped he’s been

I hold his hand and he tightens the grip
I take a step forward he takes one and another
I smile he laughs longingly
Soul mates who were just strangers

We take a look before us
Vast, intimidating and unconquered
We grit our teeth as we step towards our fears
We will crush them with brute force.
