Poetry: B.us R.ide T.houghts

This is Lagos
A beauty she should be but
Her centre isn’t really excellent
Ravaged by the wants and needs of her seeds

She’s given in to the ploys of cons
Who scream hallelujah hossana
But all their brethren only nod in dejection
She’s a badly drawn shadow of her reflection

Head banging body slamming
I endure the bus ride through the roads
The most comfortable sits aren’t that soothing
These BRT beds would need better paths

Faces longing to smile but can’t afford the luxury
Hands grabbing monies they never worked for
Dreams hovering like halos waiting to be come true
This is Lagos…
